The Ivan Grohar Gallery belongs within the core art exhibition spaces in Gorenjska. It was established by the Association of Artists of Škofja Loka in 1978, and in 2000 Loka Museum got it after direction from the Obèina (Commune) Škofja Loka. The principal mission of the gallery is to present quality contemporary Visual Arts and to popularise local, exceptionally active Art production. The gallery is a specifically separate unit of a general museum, and by its energetic exhibition activity stimulates and continues the tradition of the dialogue between the centuries old Loka art legacy and fresh contemporary art. The gallery regularly publishes exhibition publications and periodically arranges events connected with current exhibitions. The programme of the gallery comprises 11 exhibitions per year, and a lot of important and influental names, from old and already established authors to the breakthrough and promising representatives of the youngest generation, have presented themselves in this gallery. An interesting exhibition place is settled in an atractive location, in the very kernel of the old town square. Its intimate interior allows presentations of individual authorial projects, the place itself is also suitable for attractive ambient and multi-media installations.
