Loft Gallery
The Loft Gallery, housed in 500-m2-large attic with a wooden roof framework, is a new exhibition space in the south wing of the Škofja Loka Castle.
For decades, the space was used as a museum depot for large and small archaeological and ethnological objects. In 2018, the roof was renovated with the help of the Municipality of Škofja Loka, in 2023, the depot was relocated, and in October 2024, the castle underwent energy renovations, which included the installation of attic windows, floor protection, and the renovation of the internal roof framework carried out under conservators’ supervision. In addition to other reconstruction works, the space was equipped with everything necessary for exhibition-related activities.
Between 2024 and 2026, the Loft Gallery will temporarily house two exhibitions of contemporary art, starting with an exhibition of contemporary ceramic art from the collection of the National Museum of Slovenia. In 2025, the gallery will host a retrospective exhibition of the artworks by the world-renowned intermedia artist Tomaž Furlan, which will be designed specifically for the attic space. The plans for 2027 include putting on a new permanent collection.
